TAX CREDIT STRUCTURING EXPERTISE EXPANDS TO DEVELOPING CLEAN ENERGY SOLUTIONS. UFA’s Renewable Energy Group was created to extend the firm’s 3BL mission by leveraging its energy industry knowledge and structured finance expertise. The Renewable Energy Group is collaborating with its network of developers, investors, and system hosts to structure, finance, and construct over 40 MW of renewable energy projects throughout the western United States. The Renewable Energy Group has in-depth experience in the renewable energy industry, including clean tech energy investing, solar, wind, geothermal, and transmission. This experience, combined with UFA’s expertise in structured finance, tax credit syndication, fund management, investor reporting, and tax credit compliance, enables the Renewable Energy Group to provide turnkey project finance and management packages to investors, system integrators, and system hosts. The Renewable Energy Group is initially focusing its efforts on solar projects in Oregon. Investors in these photovoltaic projects will receive their required returns from Oregon Business Energy Tax Credits, federal investment tax credits, 5-year accelerated depreciation, the EnergyTrust of Oregon grant program, other state incentives, cash distributions, and residual payments. System integrators are able to focus on designing and installing the systems and do not need to expend time structuring complex financing packages. System hosts benefit by receiving energy at discounted rates. |
